Miss Hueytown Pageant - Saturday Feb 25th @ 6 pm

The 2012 Hueytown Chamber of Commerce "Miss Hueytown Pageant" is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25.  Pageant start time is 6 pm.  Ladies ages 5 - 21 years old are invited to participate.   This is a no glitz, appropriate age pageant attire and will be held at the former HHS gym in Hueytown. 

The pageant entry fee remains $40 and the fee for the optional Miss Photogenic competition remains $10.   Deadline for registration is Wednesday, February 15.

Ribbon Cutting at the new Hueytown High School: 1/18/12 @ 1 pm

Be sure to make time to attend the ribbon cutting at the new Hueytown High School after the Chamber/City luncheon on Wednesday, January 18th.  

The ribbon cutting will take place at 1 pm CT.   The new Hueytown High School is located on 15th Street Road, Hueytown, Al.  35023 next to the North Highlands Baptist Church.

January Luncheon Time Changed: 11 am on 1/18/12

Due to the ribbon cutting at the new Hueytown High School, the January Chamber luncheon time has changed.  The luncheon will be on January 18th and start at 11 am.  The luncheon agenda remains the same.  Also, the location remains the Brooklane Community Center.   The time change will allow luncheon participants to attend the ribbon cutting. 

Alabama New Business Workshop: Bham Area's - January 19th

The Alabama Department of Revenue hosts new business workshops across the state. Participants receive a brief, but comprehensive overview of Alabama taxes that will enable a business to begin operating with a clearer understanding of its tax obligations. 

The workshops cover a state tax information topics including employer withholding taxes, state and local sales taxes, property taxes, business licensing requirements and Alabama's child labor law.  An overview of Alabama's business tax electronic filing programs will also be presented.

Chamber of Commerce / City Luncheon: Wednesday, Jan 11th - Brooklane Community Center

Start the new year off right – participate in the 2012 series of Hueytown Area Chamber of Commerce and City luncheons. The first meeting of the series will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at the Brooklane Community Center,  time 11 am.

The January luncheon will feature Bessemer District Court Judge Jill Ganus who will discuss the Family Court children’s area volunteer program underway at the Bessemer Courthouse. Hueytown’s Mayor Delor Baumann will present the state of the city.

Luncheons are open to all in the community and you do not need to be a Chamber member. A $5 donation is requested for the Chamber’s Hueytown Area Scholarship fund.

Tonight - Jan 5th on ESPN - Under Armour High School All-American Football Game

Tune in to ESPN tonight, Jan 5th, at 6:30 pm and see two of Hueytown High School's finest represented at the UnderArmour High School All-American Football Game:  Jameis Winston and Coach Matt Scott will be representing Hueytown High School!

Per ESPN Media Zone, of the more than 90 players selected by ESPN Scouts, Inc. to participate in the Under Armour All-America High School game, 10 of the top 15 of the ESPNU150 will play.  Jameis Winston is included in those 10 slated to play.

The game is presented by American Family Insurance and is a competition spotlighting the nation's top high school seniors.
