2013 Hueytown Christmas Parade Thank yous & Winners

Thankfully the weather cleared and the 2013 Hueytown Christmas Parade completed on Saturday!   The Chamber is very grateful to the parade participants who spent their time to prepare their entries and  'stayed the course' to participate in the parade.

We are also very appreciative to all the parade volunteers along with the City of Hueytown employees who gave of their time to bring our area a fantastic parade!  Another big thank you too to those who work each year to provide the Santa Photo Shop at the Christmas Tree Lighting and after the Christmas Parade.

Santa at the Photo Shop after the Christmas Parade - 12/14/13 - Gilmore Stadium Park

Be sure to come by the Photo Shop after the Hueytown Christmas Parade today and have your photo made with Santa.  All photos are free and can be emailed to you. 

The Santa Photo Shop is brought to you by the Hueytown Chamber, Ritchie and Associates along with Jena Large and Associates/Southeastern Business Services. 

The Christmas Parade is still on! Saturday, December 14th @ 11 am (start time moved back an hour due to the weather)

In true resilient Hueytown fashion, we will move forward regardless of the issue!     Our Christmas parade is still on!  It will be delayed an hour due to the weather.  Start time 11 am vs 10 am.  All parade entrants to be in place by 10 am.   Merry Christmas!

Don't forget - Christmas Tree Lighting - Friday night, Dec 13th @ 7 pm - Gilmore Stadium Park

Don't forget to attend Hueytown's Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.  It will be held this Friday,  Dec 13th.  This is a free, citywide event.   Please join us for hot chocolate, terrific music and the opening of our holiday season.   Santa has scheduled us in during his busy season for free photos and to take everyone's Wish! 

Pancakes at Pleasant Ridge and a Parade! Perfection! Saturday, December 14th, 7 am - 9:30 am

Reminder:   Park at Pleasant Ridge and get Pancakes pre-Parade!  

On Saturday, 12/14/13,  park at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and eat a pancake breakfast before the Hueytown Christmas Parade.  You will get a PLATE FULL of pancakes, bacon, biscuits along with juice and coffee for $ 5.  The proceeds from the breakfast will go to the Youth's activities. 

The annual Pancake breakfast is held in the Fellowship Hall at Pleasant Ridge.  The breakfast time is 7 am to 9:30 am.  This gives you plenty of time to park and stake out your parade spot!   Pleasant Ridge is a prime parking location for the viewing the parade.   If you aren't able to stay for breakfast, the Youth will appreciate a donation.

2013 Parade Participant Information

For  2013 Hueytown Christmas Parade participants:
  • Lineup numbers and location information have been provided to the person who submitted the parade entry.  If you are in the parade but not the person who submitted the parade entry, please contact your entry point of contact for your line up number and location.
  • IMPORTANT:  In order for the Parade Director and Judges to view your entry, and the Master of Ceremonies to read the correct description for your entry, your Parade entry number must be written on a full size paper/card (8.5 x 11) and placed on the left side of the windshield.
  • Entry check-in will be at the Old Chamber Office located at Gilmore Stadium.  There is no office phone available at the entry check-in location. 
  • Line up times: 
          - 18 wheelers Floats:   7 am-7:30 am
          - Floats:   8 am - 8:30 am
          - Vehicles/Walkers:   8:30 am
          - Equestrian:    may begin to unload at 8:30 am at pre-identified horse location. 
                                    be at their designated loading/unloading spot no later than 9 am.
                                    All waivers/licenses must be signed prior to lineup or horses/riders
                                    will not be allowed into the parade.

NOTE:   Line up lists have been posted at both the old Chamber location (formerly at Gilmore Stadium) and the new Chamber office (City Hall Annex - next door to Hueytown City Hall)

Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony - rescheduled to Friday, Dec 13th @ 7 pm

Due to inclement weather, the Hueytown Area Chamber and City Christmas tree lighting was rescheduled.  It will now be held Friday, December 13th.  The program will start at 7 pm.  Plan for hot chocolate, Santa and other surprises!

Zumba at Baptist Health Center (BHC)-Hueytown.... starting January 7th, 2014

To help us with our New Year's weight management resolutions, BHC-Hueytown (Baptist Health Center) will begin offering Zumba exercise classes at their location in Hueytown.  BHC-Hueytown is part of the Baptist Health Center medical clinic network in Central Alabama.

The Zumba classes will begin Tuesday, January 7, 2014, time 5:30 pm.   The January 7th introductory class will only be one dollar ($1).  The following classes will be five dollars ($5) each.   So bring a dollar and a friend on Tuesday, Jan 7th!

Let the BHC team help you with your and your family's health needs.  At their office in Hueytown they are able to diagnose and treat injuries, infections, ongoing health issues. The medical staff at BHC is also available to work with behavioral, functional issues and other of life's stresses.

Grand Marshall of Hueytown's Christmas Parade: Gene Norman, Chief Meteorologist - CBS 42

The Grand Marshall of the 2013 Hueytown Christmas Parade is Gene Norman, Chief Meteorologist - CBS 42.   The Grand Marshall will be followed in the parade by our 2013 Miss Hueytown - Morgan Lafoy. 

Mr Norman joined the CBS 42 staff  as Chief Meteorologist in April 2013. Previously he was with CBS affiliates in Houston and Atlanta.  You can see Mr Norman daily on the 5, 6 and 10 pm newscasts.

Achiever's League:    The Achiever's League is a co-ed softball league for challenged boys and girls that cannot play on a regular ball team.  This league plays during the spring and game facilities are located in Pleasant Grove, Al.
Needs:  Adjustable large helmets, safe/soft training softballs, bats, tees, right & left ball gloves; buddies to assist the teams around the bases/catch balls
