JefCoEd solicits your input about our schools through online surveys - Responses needed by Oct 31, 2014

In conjunction with the JefCoEd Strategic Planning Forums /  Community Zone meetings, JefCoEd is requesting the community, parents, business owners, and employees respond to surveys regarding our schools.  Three type of surveys are available online on the JefCoEd website homepage (www.jefcoed.com).

JefCoEd solicits your participation in one or all three surveys, which ever applies to your relationship with the system.    Even if you do not live in the school district, you  pay taxes that benefit public schools in all 13 school districts within Jefferson County.

We need to hear from you.  These surveys are extremely important for the direction of our area schools!  Having a child in school is not a requirement for survey participation.

Parents are requested to submit one survey for each child attending school and one from each of the parents.   Why so many?  Because each individual child has a different relationship with the school district and we need all different feedback and perceptions. It is most helpful to our planning and to serving you and your child better as a school district.

Surveys must be submitted by October 31 and can be accessed via the JefCoEd  homepage under Quick Links:  JefCoEd surveys

Let your voice be heard about our schools on Tuesday, Oct 14th @ Hueytown High School., 6 pm

Do you have concerns regarding the quality of education at our schools and the impact of the test scores on our community? Maybe concerns regarding the direction of the academic offerings to our students and funding not provided to the Jefferson County area schools?  Then plan to join us on October 14th from 6pm - 8pm at Hueytown High School and let your voice be heard about our schools!

JefCoEd  established six community zone Strategic Planning forums to discuss its five-year strategic planning project.  Their plans will have a significant impact to our area schools and community.  The Community forums will be held to allow employees, parents, students and members of the public to give input into the planning.   The goal of the development of the strategic plan is to include all municipal mayors, stakeholders, parents and school employees.

The first two of the six community meetings to gather feedback from stakeholders have been held at McAdory and Minor High Schools.  The Hueytown Forum will be Tuesday night, Oct 14th from 6-8 pm.

Your voice is needed!   Even if you do not live in the school district or have children in the area school, you pay taxes that benefit public schools in all 13 school districts within Jefferson County.  Your business is impacted by the quality of education provided to our students, their test scores and school ratings.  So turn out and show JefCoEd the Hueytown Area is just as interested in a quality education  as those throughout the JefCo system and over the mountain!

Weldon's Pharmacy and Open Hands Overflowing Heart

Weldon's Pharmacy has been a fantastic service in the Hueytown Area community since 1960.  Weldon's is a modern compounding pharmacy and carries an array of medical solutions and health devices.  They offer a great supply of specialty gift items and sundries.  They also provide you with the ability to access your prescriptions online 24/7.  Using your phone?  Check their website and download the RefillRx Mobile app.  The app is offered for both Android and iPhone.

In Weldon's Pharmacy tradition of helping others, they are answering the question "what will you do" in the fight against childhood cancer.  To this end they are participating in the Open Hands Overflowing Hearts (OHOH)  fund raising campaign and 'Flushing Out Childhood Cancer'.  All proceeds will go to OHOH in honor of Kayla Perry.  OHOH 100 days 100 ways  allows you to use your own idea to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research.  Lets support Weldon's Pharmacy in this endeavor!
