Let's help RBC Bank in their support of our neighbors and friends along the Gulf!

Peek in your cabinets, pull out some cans or other non-perishable food items and bring them to the RBC Bank in Hueytown.  Now through Friday, Oct 1st, RBC Bank is sponsoring the Gulf Neighbors Food Drive to benefit the Bay Area Food Bank.   RBC Bank has provided collection barrels in their lobby and are collecting canned goods along with non-perishable food items.

Financial GPS - Saturday, Oct 2

Planning a home purchase or want to increase your financial literacy?  Come to the free Financial GPS workshop on Saturday, October 2, 2010.   RBC Bank has partnered with Freddie Mac, Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham, Inc., Birmingham Weed & Seed, and Lawson State Community College to offer financial literacy,credit counseling, and first-time home buyer workshops. Time:  7:30 am -  1 pm

Cost:    $2 gate with full concessions

Movie in the Park :  October 29
The PTA will be showing THE BLIND SIDE and they will have full concessions
Times:  Gate opens at 6 pm and the movie starts at 7 pm
Location:   Gilmore Stadium
Cost:  $3, kids 5 & under are free

Don't forget the Hueytown 10K/5K Race and Walk on Saturday, Oct 2

Just a reminder:  The Hueytown 10K/5K Race and Walk is on Saturday, Oct 2nd.  You can pre-register via the race website, http://www.hueytownrace.com/, or register the day of the race.  Early registration begins at 7 am CT, the race begins at 8 am CT on the dot....   Race Directors:  Lisa Coleman of Alabama Telco and John Lemak, Iron Works Fitness

HHS Band needs your help!

The words "Water,Water everywhere nor any drop to drink..."  from 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' may come to the thoughts of the Hueytown High School band during practice and football games....    

The Band boosters need help in providing water to the band.   Water donations for the band are being accepted in flats and can be dropped off at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.   For questions please contact Cheryl Amerson or Rhonda Lewis You can also call Rebecca at the Chamber office:   205 491 8039.

Paint the Town Purple week: October 9 - 15

Okay, start making your plans - Hueytown High School's Homecoming week will begin October 9th and so will Paint the Town Purple!   Let's show our support of our school and students.   This year we will have 2 categories, the Best Decorated Business and Best Decorated Residence.  The winners will be recognized at the Homecoming game against John Carroll.  Stay tuned for additional details or call Rebecca at the Chamber:  205 491 8039.

Monthly Luncheon with the City: Wednesday, Sept 15th

Join us on Wednesday, Sept 15th for the Monthly Luncheon with the City.   We will have a political forum consisting of candidates in the upcoming elections as our program. 

Please keep in mind, the Chamber's monthly meetings are open to everyone - you do not have to be a Chamber member to attend.
