Hueytown is participating in the Alabama Sales Tax Holiday which begins Friday, August 5, 2011 at 12:01 a.m. and ends Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 12 midnight. Help yourself along with our loyal businesses! Approximately 40% of all tax money spent locally remains local. This helps you, our local businesses stay open, our Schools, our Police, Fire and Rescue services, along with all our City services!

Weather Radios - Thursday, July 30th - beginning at 10 am
Do you need a weather radio? Now is your chance to get one for free! So if you are:
- 60 years old or older
- live in a Jefferson County area affected by the April 27th tornadoes
then come to the Brooklane Community Center in Hueytown on Thursday, July 30 at 10 a.m. CT
The complimentary radios will be provided by the Jefferson County Office of Senior Citizens. They are provided on a first come, first served basis and will be available until all are distributed.

Tax Free Weekend coming soon! August 5 - 7
Don't forget - Hueytown will again observe the Tax Free Weekend from Friday, Aug 5 through Sunday, Aug 7th. To stretch your money, be sure to plan to purchase your school items and clothes in Hueytown. More information will be provided at a later date.
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Competition - Saturday, July 16th @ 7 pm
A Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competition will be held at Oak Grove High School on Saturday evening, July 16th. Beginning at 7 pm, there will be nine bouts featuring contestants from the Hueytown/Oak Grove Area. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
