Hueytown High School Alumni Association Annual Breakfast: Saturday, March 10, 2012

The Hueytown High School Alumni Association's annual breakfast will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 9:00 AM at the new Hueytown High School lunch room.  You do not have to be a member of the Alumni Association to attend the breakfast.   There will be tours of the  new high school and the HHS Band Boosters will have a table set up to sell cookbooks and receive donations. 

Currently the HHS Alumni Association consists of 603 members. Not only graduates are invited to become members of the HHS Alumni Association.  If you attended HHS at anytime, are a former teacher, new to the community or are a Gopher supporter, you are invited to join HHS Alumni Association.  The Alumni association consists of people proud of our school and community.  They want to help all Hueytown area students succeed in school and life.

The goals of the Alumni Association are to further the name of Hueytown High School, promote positive activities for the students, recognize and help with needs for the school, students, and programs. 

Over the past several years the following have been accomplished by the Alumni Association: 

• Scholarships
• Annual Breakfast
• Sponsor of the "Blast from the Past"
• Purchased school signs for the school and Gilmore-Vines Stadium
• Purchased stage curtains
• Purchased library books, band instruments, and more!

'Start Your Business' Seminar - March 12, 2012

The Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) - Bham Chapter will hold a 'Start Your Business' Seminar on Friday, March 16.  It will be held from 9 am to 12 noon at the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham, address 1731 1st Ave North, Bham, Al.

Another Hueytown Area Chamber member is bringing good news to our community!  Watch Fox 6's evening broadcast on Tuesday, 2/21/12 to see see  their piece on Self Health Care and Rehab Lodge.   Self  Health Care is being recognized by Fox 6 through their local jobs series.   

Self Health Care recently completed a major renovation and are proud to open their state -of -the-art Rehabilitation Lodge to the public.  With 12 private suites, the new Rehab Lodge is available to assist with short term rehabilitation needs in a comfortable and convenient environment.

Congratulations Princeton Baptist Medical Center!!

A big congratulations goes to Princeton Baptist Medical Center for achieving Heart Failure Accrediation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC)! 

When every second counts, we in the western portion of Jefferson County are lucky to be served by Princeton.  Princeton was the first and ONLY center to become accredited in 2009 and is the FIRST hospital to achieve Heart Failure accreditation.   Accrediatation demonstrates Princeton's commitment to the increasing number of heart failure patients admitted to the area's emergency rooms.

Achieving this accreditation was no easy feat!  It required Princeton BMC to engage in rigorous reevaluation and refinement of its cardiac care processes.  This was required in order to integrate the healthcare industry's most successful practices and newest paradigms into Princeton's processes for the care of heart failure patients.

“Princeton’s Heart Failure Accreditation enhances the quality of care for our heart failure patients,” said Ann McEntire, RN, nursing director, Princeton Cardiovascular Services. “Heart Failure remains a large segment of our patient population and we want to provide the best standard of care upon admission and upon discharge to help our patients avoid readmissions.”

“Our Heart Failure Accreditation coupled with our Chest Pain Center Accreditation sets us apart,” said McEntire. “By going through the accreditation process we prove to the community that we desire to go above and beyond and are committed to adhering to a higher standard of care.”
