Looking for more local ways to help others this Christmas season?

In addition to Toys for Tots, here are a couple of area organizations that can use your help at Christmas and through the year:

Household/Living:
ARC of Jefferson County:    Provide homes, care facilities and employment opportunities for adults and children of Jefferson County with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Requests:    new Blankets,  new sheet sets; Popular Music CDs, Movie DVDs (rated G & PG), gift card,  toiletries: (shampoo, deodorant, hair spray, etc);  clothing: socks, underwear, shirts (Large & extra large for men and women); Alabama and Auburn clothing/collectibles (e.g. photos, floor rugs, sheets, etc)

Sports:
Achiever's League:    The Achiever's League is a co-ed softball league for challenged boys and girls that cannot play on a regular ball team.  This league plays during the spring and game facilities are located in Pleasant Grove, Al.
Needs:  Adjustable large helmets, safe/soft training softballs, bats, tees, right & left ball gloves; buddies to assist the teams around the bases/catch balls
