Hueytown High Alumni Breakfast - Saturday, March 9, 2013

Come out and join us at the 2013 Hueytown High School Alumni breakfast Saturday, March 9th.  It will be held in the new Hueytown High School cafeteria.  Everyone is welcome, you do not have to be a member of the Alumni Association or a graduate of Hueytown to attend.  There will be tours of the new high school throughout the morning.   The breakfast begins at 9 am with coffee and friends available beginning at 8:30 am.  No charge to attend but donations to the Association will be appreciated.

Tax Free Weekend for Severe Weather related Items: Feb 22-24, 2013

The City of Hueytown is participating in Alabama's upcoming tax free weekend for severe weather related items.  Save gas and your cash by purchasing your supplies at your Hueytown Chamber of Commerce member businesses.  For individual, personal help with your hardware items such as plywood/window covering, tarps, generators, contact Alan Antonio at Hueytown Hardware, (205) 491-1225. The 2nd annual state and city tax free weekend begins Friday, Feb 22 at 12:01 am and ends Sunday, Feb 24th at 12 pm midnight.  Click link to the State of Alabama website for more information. 

Items covered under the tax free weekend ($60 or less PER ITEM):
- Batteries:  AAA, AA, C, D, 6 and 9 volt along with Cell phone batteries
- Cell phone charger
- Radios:   Portable, self-powered or battery powered, two way, weather band, or NOAA weather radios
- Lighting:   Flashlights, lanterns, emergency glow sticks, self-powered
- Coverings:  Tarpaulins, plastic sheeting, plastic drop cloths
- Ground anchor for coverings:  bungee cords, rope, tie-down kits
- Duct Tape
- Window protection:  plywood, window film or other window protection covering
- Food Storage:  non-electric food storage coolers and water storage containers
- Home Items:  smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, non-electric can opener, artificial ice pack, blue ice, reusable ice, self contained First Aid kits
- Gas or diesel fuel container
- Power cords
- Portable Generator ($ 1,000 or less)  and power cords

Date set for the Miss Hueytown beauty pageant!

The date has been set for the Miss Hueytown beauty pageant!    The pageant will be held on Saturday, March 9th.   The ages eligible to compete are from 5 to 21 with 5-9 year old contestants to begin at 4 pm.   Our pageant is beauty only - no talent or additional categories.   Please note: The Miss Hueytown pageant is a NO GLITZ pageant with age appropriate attire.

Its great to be a customer at Dairy Queen in Hueytown everyday and especially on Saturday, Jan 26th!   That's the day Dairy Queen in Hueytown is holding its Customer Appreciation Day.  From 11 a.m.  to 9 p.m. all items will be half off!
