There is no doubt Hueytown has a wonderful group of young people along with caring teachers and coaches. This was shown once again at the recent AHSAA State 6A Softball Tournament.
Congratulations are definitely in order to Coach Lissa Walker and the Hueytown Golden Gopher Girls Softball team! As a result of a lot of hard work and talent, they brought home another award for the school and area. By beating Dothan 9 to 0 over the weekend at the AHSAA State Softball Tournament, they are the State's 6A Softball Champs! Their overall record for the season is 50-11-2. Stay tuned for celebration information. If you would like to help defray the cost of their championship rings, please call Rebecca at the Hueytown Chamber of Commerce: 205 491 8039

Looking for something to do with the family? Try Moundville!
Most of us that have lived in the area for any time know there is history all around us. We also know there is a 'mound' of history about 12 miles south of Tuscaloosa, Al. No, its not related to football but to our past: Moundville...
Moundville is a great place for an inexpensive day trip and to picnic with the family. Recently the Jones Museum at Moundville Archaeological Park completed a $ 5 million renovation. On Saturday, May 15th, they will celebrate with a grand reopening. They will unveil a stunning immersive exhibition "Lost Realm of the Black Warrier". The museum features life-sized recreated scenes, a special effects/multimedia experience, and a dazzling presentation of artifacts. The Museum also contains a terrific store: Knotted Bird Gifts. If you don't feel like a picnic on the grounds, visit their new cafe: Black Warrior Coffee Company.
Activities planned for Saturday, May 15th consist of: dance and flute performances, living history demonstrations and Native American artists. Regular museum admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students. However, on May 15th enjoy everything for 1/2 price admission!
