Looking for something to do with the family? Try Moundville!

Most of us that have lived in the area for any time know there is history all around us.  We also know there is a 'mound' of history about 12 miles south of Tuscaloosa, Al.   No, its not related to football but to our past:   Moundville...

Moundville is a great place for an inexpensive day trip and to picnic with the family.   Recently the Jones Museum at Moundville Archaeological Park completed a $ 5 million renovation.  On Saturday, May 15th, they will celebrate with a grand reopening.  They will unveil a stunning immersive exhibition "Lost Realm of the Black Warrier".  The museum features life-sized recreated scenes, a special effects/multimedia experience, and a dazzling presentation of artifacts.   The Museum also contains a terrific store:  Knotted Bird Gifts.  If you don't feel like a picnic on the grounds, visit their new cafe:  Black Warrior Coffee Company.

Activities planned for Saturday, May 15th consist of: dance and flute performances, living history demonstrations and Native American artists.  Regular museum admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students.  However, on May 15th enjoy everything for 1/2 price admission!
