There is no doubt Hueytown has a wonderful group of young people along with caring teachers and coaches. This was shown once again at the recent AHSAA State 6A Softball Tournament.
Congratulations are definitely in order to Coach Lissa Walker and the Hueytown Golden Gopher Girls Softball team! As a result of a lot of hard work and talent, they brought home another award for the school and area. By beating Dothan 9 to 0 over the weekend at the AHSAA State Softball Tournament, they are the State's 6A Softball Champs! Their overall record for the season is 50-11-2.
