Per BWW - boil water for ten minutes and then let it cool before consumption. Failure to do so could result in consumption of potentially contaminated water that could contain total coliform bacteria which may cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea as well as headaches and fatigue. The water is considered safe for purposes other than drinking.

The only areas that are affected by this boil water notice are the areas west of downtown Birmingham along US Highway-78. Other parts of the Birmingham Water Works system are not affected by this notice.
