At the Friday night, October 3rd football game, Hueytown High School will recognize the accomplishments of Mr. George "Butch" Wilson and retire his #28 jersey. Mr Wilson was a member of the 1959 Gophers football team. With the help of Mr Wilson, Hueytown had a successful 10-0 season. After leaving Hueytown High School, Mr Wilson played at the University of Alabama under Coach Bear Bryant. Mr Wilson lettered the years 1960-62. He was drafted to the Baltimore Colts in 1963 and went on to play for the New York Giants. Attending the ceremony will be winners of the George "Butch" Wilson Award. This award is presented to a Senior HHS player with the highest GPA.
